I don’t completely know what happened yesterday but I was physically and mentally exhausted. I also had a stomach ache all day. All of those three things put me in sort of a negative mood. Which is very odd and rare for me as I am usually a very positive and optimistic person.
I think it all started on Tuesday night when I decided to lay on the bed for a minute after putting my son to bed. Well that minute turned into 60 minutes. I woke up about 8:30pm and headed downstairs. I was very groggy and my brain just felt like I was in some type of twilight zone. At about 10:30pm, my wife went to bed and I laid on the couch, where I ended up falling asleep again. I woke up at about 12:15am and went to bed. My son woke up at about at 5:45am (rare time for him) wanting milk. So we gave him some milk and put him in bed with us, where I went back to sleep until about 7am. So in the last 12 hours, I had gone to sleep and woken up four different times. I think by doing that, I completely threw my whole system off which caused my physical and mental exhaustion yesterday.
I believe the stomach ache came from a slight stomach bug that little man had, who then passed it to the wifey on Tuesday causing her to feel sick and then to me yesterday. None of us actually got sick and it lasted about 24 hours for all three of us. Since it didn’t last long, I think that is why little man woke up early for milk Tuesday morning.
Now in the past, my lazy arse would have convinced myself not to go to the gym because I was tired and didn’t feel good. However, the new me isn’t going to let Evil Fatty win. My friend Kevin from college use to always say, “Suck it up, it’s the 4th Quarta!” (He’s from New Yawrk, hence the lack of ‘er’.
). I had that in my head, along with the wifey’s encouragement, and another friend from college, crazy*running*legs, telling me to go, on Twitter. So I went and I’m really glad I did because it seemed to basically reboot my whole system. I did 30 minutes on the random setting on the elliptical. I increased my level by one and kept a 5.0 pace for 27 minutes. In the last three minutes, I picked up the pace and was going between a 6.5 and 7.0 because I was feeling great. When I was done, the reboot made me feel normal again, except pushing it that last 3 minutes seemed to piss off my stomach. It eventually felt better as the night went on and dinner seemed to sit well.
I woke up this morning energized and back to normal. The stomach seems to be better too. I’m pretty happy about this because I don’t want anything to derail this healthy routine I’ve been doing for the past two and a half weeks.
Do you usually still go to the gym or exercise when you aren’t feeling well? If you do, do you feel better afterwards?
Sorry for a lack of pictures again. To make up for it, I’ve added a video below of one of my favorite old comedy bits. This is basically what my mind was doing after my my little hour nap Tuesday night.

Glad you pushed yourself!! (and that you are feeling better)
I do workout when my stomach is feeling wonky (working out ALWAYS made me feel better when I pregnant and nauseous – that was a long 16 weeks). I don’t when I have sinus issues because I’ve found it makes them worse!

I will definitely remember the next time I am feeling exhausted, to go. I’ve really liked the more energized me.
Yeah, when I have a sinus issue, then I definitely won’t go to the gym.
