Staying on the Path.

My wife, son, and I hit our local path again and walked for about 2 miles. It was a little warmer than the other day but it was still nice out. We ended up walking a different section of the path to change it up. From beginning to end it’s about 19 miles. One day, we’ll do the whole thing.

When we got home, my wife made a really tasty dinner of salad, corn on the cob and teriyaki pork loin.

Along with being really good, it was very filling! It’s all about portion control. I normally go back for cobs three and four as well as another slice or two of pork. Tonight I only ate what was on my plate. It was nice to finish a meal and not feel uncomfortable from being overly full because my eyes were bigger than my stomach.

Overall the day was a really good “healthy day” for me. All three main meals were healthy with healthy snacks in between. The only slight slip was a small piece of my wife’s chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting that was leftover from my mom’s birthday. Fortunately that is all gone and there is no more temptation. However, I do need to stop the late night grazing. That is my biggest downfall and huge contributor to my weight gain.

So far these little goals are paying off. I paid attention in school, I really did…..but for some reason I never focussed on making little goals to achieve the big goal of permanently living a healthy lifestyle. This is one of the main reasons I failed so many times before.

Time for some rest, as my out of shape arse is a little tired.

Should be interesting once I start hitting the weights next week.

    Your dinner looks delicious! I totally know what you mean about the late night grazing… gets me all the time. Nice to see your updating your blog again! 🙂

      Britta, it was really good and I’m looking forward to trying it out on the new grill next! Thanks! I hope to keep it up. The site being down and a busy weekend slowed things up, but I hope to post a few more this week. 🙂

    For me, water helps, as does unsweet tea. I drink a full glass as soon as I awaken. I also try to drink a full glass of it right before I eat. The caffeine in the tea artificially accelerates my metabolism, starting fat burning early, and the extra liquid makes me less likely to return for seconds.

    The late night grazing is the devil. Try to romanticize the hunger. I know that sounds bizarre, but if you tap into your inner scary skinny supermodel, you will find a certain smug sense of self-satisfaction in awakening hungry. Getting on the scale and seeing a lb or two slip away overnight is a good way to rekindle stalled motivation.

      Geoff, thanks for the advice on the water and unsweet tea. I am getting tired of Caffeine Free Diet Coke. I will most likely be cutting it out this week and start drinking the tea!
