Operation MO

So I was at work assisting someone that was denied health insurance coverage the other day. They had minor medical issues and were a little high on the BMI risk chart. When I hung up, I pulled out the underwriting guidelines to look up the BMI chart and the risk classifications. After looking up their weight on the chart, I decided to look up mine.  Well the ole chart says I fall into the “Morbidly Obese” risk section. Now I’m a big guy but not in the gets-winded-just-going-to-the-fridge way. I couldn’t believe what I was reading….that I had let myself go so much to fall into this category. Fortunately I’m only a few pounds away from not being in the MO category. So being a new dad and realizing I need to get me arse out of the category, I have motivated myself to finally lose weight! I have started Weight Watchers and decided to get into running. I’ve also instructed my wife to call me MO if I start to lean away from my weight loss goals. I’m going to use my blog to note my progress and struggles over the next year.

Sorry to all my Facebook friends that have been curious as to what Operation MO was and thinking it was some big revenge scenario that I was planning.

So here we go………

Dude that’s awesome. Ever thought if trying Insanity, it’s a work out program. I’m thinking of doing it just to tone my body and get some what back in shape.

Thats great Jay! It’s very to easy to let yourself go the older we get. Finding motivation to workout doesn’t seem to be as easy as it was when we were hitting the gym everyday after high school. And finding time to workout for an hour everyday is just non-exsistant! However, when you fall in love with your kids and think that your health may one day prevent you from throwing the ball, coaching their basketball team, or just wrestling around with them on the living room floor (without having a heart attack) … gives you a whole new definition of motivation. Your not living your life for you anymore, its all about being healthy and making sure bad health habits do not prevent you from taking care of your family.
It has also been a struggle for me to keep weight off to as I get closer to my mid 30′s. I have found that what little metabolism I had when I was turning the big 3.0. has now completely vanished. If I have a piece of cake or a eat donut I can actually see myself getting fatter.. IT FRIGGIN SUCKS!! I have been as heavy as 210 pounds, for my body style that is very bad… mainly because it definitely ain’t muscle!! But the biggest problem for me has been learning to not eat that bowl of lucky charms at 10p.m. right before I go bed at night. Not doing that has helped a ton!
I wish you all the luck in the world with your journey! It’s all about making lifestyle changes, eating more whole grains and food that comes from the earth, not food filled with preservatives and sodium, You are a constant living example for your son, he will do what you and Mommy do. As Ayden gets older I see that in him more and more, he does whatever we do everyday. You are a great Father and a very smart man. You know it’s not going to be easy to stay healthy, but the benefits will stay with you forever and make your everyday life a whole lot easier. YOU CAN DO IT BROTHER!!!!
I will always be around if you need any help, workout advise, or just wan’t to vent when things get tough.. because it WILL be tough. But, anything that’s good in life, doesn’t come easy.

STAY FOCUSED, STAY ON TRACK…….and you will KICK SOME ASS!

    Good Luck Jason!!
