Google+: Join the Migration! – Part 1

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you probably have been harassed by posts and tweets about joining Google+. (What can I say, I’m a Google whore.) I received an invite to join in the first week of July and I’ve been hooked liked Chris Rock in New Jack City.

I really think that it will be the site to finally replace Facebook. The basics work similar to Facebook but with better features. The features (that I will bring up later) are great and way more advanced than Facebook. It of course has it’s flaws (also to be brought up later), but those are expected with something so new for the public to test. Unfortunately some of these flaws are detering people from coming back to it or not joining due to dumb comments like “It’s too intrusive” which was posted by someone on Facebook! Really dude, really?

I’m hoping to post a different feature every couple of days to help everyone “get it”. I put “get it” in quotes because that seemed to be the biggest response to those that were unfamiliar, “I don’t get it”.ย Well I’m here to help you “get it”, got it?! ๐Ÿ™‚

Now on to the good stuff!

To me, this is the genius that is G+. If you are like me, you have several different types of people in your friend list on Facebook and there are most likely certain status updates and pictures that you don’t want to share with everyone in that large list of friends. Well G+ Circles allows you to organize and categorize your family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, etc. and then filter what will show up in their stream from you. Also, there may be a celebrity or friend that is fun to follow but often posts too much and can clog up your stream (like that iJason guy and all of his damn G+ posts). You can then use Circles to filter whose posts you want to read. I mean come on, how is that not awesome?!

Well that’s all for today boys and girls. If you aren’t on G+ already, hopefully you will consider it after these posts. If you are on there, then get to postin’! (when did this turn into a western?)

I don’t really care for G+. It is not intuitive to me. So, I’ll do an official switch once everyone abandons Facebook. Just like I did with Myspace. Unless you can convince me with your next post.
