A little late on this one…….
You don’t have to eat right and/or exercise to lose weight. Oh no, there is something so much easier and quicker than those methods……the stomach flu!! This fun little virus sneaked up on me on Saturday morning right around the time I was almost done recovering from my cold. What a very bad day Saturday was! Chills, aches, sleepiness and then my favorite of them all, porcelain praying. The good news though….I lost 4lbs! The total is now up to 5.8lbs. I am hoping to start back on my Nike+ training this weekend. The new time change this past weekend is going to make starting the before-work workout routine over again lots of fun.
Too much Gatorade this week instead of water and not eating enough calories earlier in the week may lead to a low loss next week but we’ll see.
Motivational Quote of the Week: Good habits result from resisting temptation.
I know what you’re thinking, “Road Blocks in week 1!? Really!?”. It’s only a minor one that hasn’t slowed down my attitude nor made me lose my motivation. As always, I got off to a strong start with eating right and exercising. In the past, I have always taken the first week off from exercising due the fact that I am drastically reducing my calorie intake and my system is a little shocked. I have learned that any time I work out in that first week, my body gets run down too much and I usually get sick. Well being stubborn as well as excited to try out my new Nike+ gear, I exercised….. and I got sick. Fortunately, it’s just a basic cold thanks to my checkup at the Minute Clinic (which I highly recommend if you just have a cold and can’t get into your doctor. They are a lot faster and cheaper than Urgent Care. And no, if there are two people ahead of you, your wait isn’t two minutes.
)
Anyways (should’ve got some ADD meds while I was there), back to OMO Wk1. I ended up only working out for a couple of days before I got sick but I did eat healthy throughout the week minus date night dinner on Friday with the Mrs and a birthday luncheon for a good friend on Saturday. Both times, I didn’t eat healthy but I also didn’t go overboard and kept to portion control. So at my second weigh-in, I had a loss of 1.8lbs. Not great, but it’s a loss and 1.8 lbs closer to not being in that damn MO category! Due to the cold, I’m not expecting much out of Week 2 but I am still motivated, still on the path to a healthy lifestyle and looking forward to getting back to exercising in Week 3!
Motivational Quote of the Week: It’s not how many times you get knocked down…..it’s how many times you get back up!
So I was at work assisting someone that was denied health insurance coverage the other day. They had minor medical issues and were a little high on the BMI risk chart. When I hung up, I pulled out the underwriting guidelines to look up the BMI chart and the risk classifications. After looking up their weight on the chart, I decided to look up mine. Well the ole chart says I fall into the “Morbidly Obese” risk section. Now I’m a big guy but not in the gets-winded-just-going-to-the-fridge way. I couldn’t believe what I was reading….that I had let myself go so much to fall into this category. Fortunately I’m only a few pounds away from not being in the MO category. So being a new dad and realizing I need to get me arse out of the category, I have motivated myself to finally lose weight! I have started Weight Watchers and decided to get into running. I’ve also instructed my wife to call me MO if I start to lean away from my weight loss goals. I’m going to use my blog to note my progress and struggles over the next year.
Sorry to all my Facebook friends that have been curious as to what Operation MO was and thinking it was some big revenge scenario that I was planning.
So here we go………
